More than 30,000 people filled the White House South Lawn for a day of basketball, storytelling, food and games at the 134th White House Easter Egg Roll Monday morning. Guess who was there? TODAY’S Al Roker and Award-winning Chef Marcus Samuelsson – two of this year’s Toast to the Children honorees!
The Washington Examiner wrote an article highlighting the day’s festivities. Here is the excerpt on Al and Marcus:
Over by the White House kitchen garden, a purple-pants-clad Michelle Obama joined chef Marcus Samuelsson and “The Today Show’s” Al Roker to serve up a round of veggie and shrimp tacos. The first lady extolled the benefits of eating vegetables while kids squeezed lime juice onto their tacos. Upon hearing a woman in the audience call vegetables “very expensive,” Obama suggested she buy produce in season or frozen to cut down on costs. She also advocated skipping the “fried chicken and the carb-heavy dinners, the kind we all love.”
